Our self-paced, accredited BSN program can be completed in as little as 18 months. To remain active, you must complete at least 3 credits at TESU in 12 months. You can also earn maximum credit for prior learning and up to 63 credits in course equivalencies may be applied when you pass the NCLEX-RN exam. To meet your needs as a busy registered nurse, our open and rolling admissions program offers the flexibility to start your degree at your convenience. Our class sizes are kept small and are offered during eight-week sessions. We also provide four one-week breaks throughout the year. Your nursing advisor is available throughout your educational journey to help you plan and register for appropriate courses.

 

  • RN to BSN Program

    • Great for graduates of associate degree and diploma programs of nursing.
    • Requires a minimum of 120 credits.
    • Includes 12 graduate credits that may be applied to the Master of Science in Nursing Program at Thomas Edison State University.
    • Nursing and general education courses are offered during three 16-week semesters (July, November and March).

  • RN to BSN/MSN Program
    • Earn both a BSN and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree (RN to BSN/MSN program) with preparation as a Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator or Nursing Informatics specialist at the master’s level.
    • Only requires the completion of an additional 27 credits beyond the BSN degree requirements.
    • MSN program courses are 8 weeks in length.
    • Awards a graduate nursing certificate in addition to the diploma upon program completion.

    Many of our clinical partners have notified us that all students must be fully vaccinated, including full vaccination for COVID-19, to participate in any clinical or practicum experience in their facilities. If you cannot show proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 30 days prior to starting your clinical activities, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to find appropriate clinical placement and successfully complete your program of study.

Admissions Process


  • Full Admission

    Full admission is open to to students who already have RN licensure, including:

    • Graduates of an RN diploma program of nursing.
    • Graduates of a regionally-accredited college of university in the United States with an associate degree in nursing.
    • Graduates of a recognized foreign institution with an associate degree in nursing.
    • Applicants must have an active RN license from the United States.
  • Applicants Must Submit

    • A completed application with a nonrefundable fee.
    • All official transcripts.
    • A current RN license valid in the United States.
      • For your application to be processed, the University must be able to validate your RN license. If your state does not have an online RN license validation process, you must submit a notarized copy of current RN license validation in the United States.

  • Additional Requirements and Notes

    Two years experience in nursing is recommended for the MSN degree program and the Graduate Nursing Certificate program.

    Students must have evidence of a valid RN license and malpractice insurance before registering for NUR-4430: Public Health Nursing. Students are required to provide documentation to a vendor selected by the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing.

    Students must have evidence of a valid RN license and malpractice insurance before registering for practicum courses in the MSN degree and graduate nursing certificate programs.

    Students must be proficient in using a computer, browsing the internet and sending/receiving email (including attachments).
