Tuition Plan for Veterans

Students using GI Bill® and VA educational benefits and who have a military status of retired or discharged are required to use the Per Credit Tuition Plan at Thomas Edison State University. Students who leave active duty while still enrolled at Thomas Edison State University will be switched from the military tuition plans associated with the Military Degree Completion Program and the Navy College Program to the Per Credit Tuition Plan at the time of their retirement or discharge from active duty.

Under certain circumstances, other tuition plans may also be available. Please contact the University’s veteran affairs office at va@tesu.edu to learn more about other potential tuition plan options. Students using GI Bill and VA educational benefits and who have a military status of retired or discharged are not eligible for the military tuition rates associated with the Military Degree Completion Program or the Navy College Program.

Determining whether or not a student will have out of pocket expenses depends on which chapter of the GI Bill they are using and the percentage of coverage. Some chapters pay the education benefit directly to the veteran, while others pay the education benefit directly to the University. If you have detailed questions about your specific education benefits, you should contact the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs at (888) 442-4551.
