This section is designed to help answer some of the questions you may have about our RN-BSN/MSN nursing program.

  • Are Thomas Edison State University’s Nursing programs accredited?

    Yes. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, the master's degree program in nursing, and the doctor of nursing practice program at Thomas Edison State University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

    The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Thomas Edison State University is also accredited by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, PO Box 45010, Newark, NJ 07101, (973) 504-6430.

  • Do I need to travel to the University?

    No. With the exception of some courses in the Accelerated BSN Program, all courses in the nursing programs are online and asynchronous, enabling students to complete coursework at a time that is convenient for them. All advisement services can be completed over the telephone or in person.

  • How long will it take to complete my degree?

    The program is self-paced. Students can take one 8-week course every session and complete their BSN in as little as 15 months.

  • How and when can I apply?

    With open and rolling admissions, students can apply any day of the year.

    Students who are provisionally admitted will have one year from the date of Provisional Admission to obtain RN licensure. Students are fully admitted into the RN-BSN program after successful completion of the NCLEX-RN and submission of final transcripts.

  • Will someone contact me after my application is received to tell me what to do next?

    After you apply you will receive an acceptance letter by email with important information on how to register for courses, along with your student ID number. If you applied and did not receive your acceptance letter within two (2) weeks of sending in your application, please contact the Office of Admissions at (609) 777-5680 or via admissions@tesu.edu. It is important to check your email account frequently for important information from Thomas Edison State University. If you need to change your email address on your student record, please complete and submit the Student Data Change Form. Many of your questions may also be answered by viewing the RN-BSN information page or the University Catalog.

  • How do I make an advising appointment?

    Nursing students have their own advisors in the School of Nursing and Health Professions and can make an appointment any time via the University portal:

    After logging in, click on "Make an Advising Appointment" under the Tools section on the left-hand side. Students may choose 30, 45, or 60-minute appointments. Each appointment can take place via telephone or Zoom. You may also submit your advisement questions to nursing@tesu.edu.

  • When are undergraduate nursing courses offered?

    Two consecutive BSN courses (8-weeks each) are offered during three 16-week semesters. These semesters start in July, November, and March. View the registration dates for these terms. Graduate electives are offered as per the online schedule.

  • When should I register for a course?

    After receiving your acceptance letter from the University, you can register for courses, but it is recommended that you schedule an advising appointment prior to registering for your first course to help you plan your degree completion and to make sure you do not register for a course you already completed. You may register for courses through Online Student Services.

  • How can I learn to use Moodle (myEdison)?

    Once you have been accepted to the University, you will gain access to myEdison. All coursework that you have registered for will appear under the Courses tab approximately 1-2 days before the start of the course. Click on the title of the course to gain access to the course space. Once in the course space, you may click on Course Essentials and Technically Helpful Documents to view a Powerpoint presentation.

  • How do I contact the School if my questions aren't answered online?

    You can contact the School of Nursing and Health Professions directly by emailing nursing@tesu.edu. It is important to keep the University informed if you change your home or email address so that we can stay in contact with you. To update your personal information, please access your Online Student Services account or submit the Student Data Change Form.
