Non-Matriculated (Visiting) Students

Non-matriculated students are individuals who are interested in taking Thomas Edison State University courses or TECEP examinations without seeking a degree.

Interested students are required to apply to the University by selecting Non-Matriculating/Visiting Student Application when prompted to select a type of application.

Please note that all applicants must possess a high school degree or its GED equivalent, and meet the University’s criteria for admission. Thomas Edison State University will not admit non-matriculated students who are under the age of 16.

Non-matriculated students, both graduate and undergraduate, must pay the current per-credit rates as outlined on our Visiting Student Tuition page.

For more information on becoming a non-matriculated student, please contact the Office of Admissions at 609-777-5680 or admissions@tesu.edu.

  • Additional Information for Undergraduate Non-Matriculated Students

Your application will be processed within one business day, and you will receive your acceptance letter or further instructions via email within 2-3 business days.

It is highly encouraged that non-matriculated students ensure they apply no later than 2 weeks before the start of a term. This ensures the student has adequate time to be accepted to the University and register for courses. In addition, it allows adequate time for the student to order whatever books and materials are necessary for the courses.

Students interested in taking undergraduate-level nursing courses will also need to show proof of current RN licensure and receive approval from the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions prior to registering.

  • Additional Information for Graduate Non-Matriculated Students

Students interested in taking graduate-level courses must provide an official transcript showing they have received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Graduate non-matriculated students may take up to nine graduate credits; the exact number of credits allowed is determined by each School.

Not all graduate courses are open to non-matriculated Graduate Students.

Students interested in taking graduate-level nursing courses will also need to show proof of current RN Licensure and receive approval from the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions prior to registering.
