TESU Celebrates 100% Pass Rate For Nursing Students Who Took NCLEX-RN Exams During 2023
For the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and Health Professions, 2023 was the year of the perfect score. The School is celebrating a 100% pass rate for Accelerated BSN Program students who sat for the National Council of Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) during the 12-month timeframe.
“Three student cohorts representing 41 nurses entering the profession passed the exam on the first try during each quarter of 2023,” affirmed Dr. Lorraine Chewey, dean of Undergraduate Nursing Programs at the School. “We attribute this consistent success to our unique hybrid program structure, our committed students, diligent nurse educators, devoted staff and local clinical partners who collaborate with us on providing our students with comprehensive on-ground experiences.”
Data on pass rates among New Jersey nursing programs was published in the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Program Summary of all First-Time Candidates Licensed in All Jurisdictions fourth-quarter first-time pass rates report. The 2023 pass rate data for Thomas Edison State University’s program appears on page 56.
“Our consistently high pass rates are an important metric for our accreditors and a harbinger of successful career placement for our students,” noted Chewey. “It also serves to solidify the School’s reputation among area employers and clinical partners.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for RNs entering the field is approaching $82,000, with employment projected to grow 6% through 2032 – faster than the average for all occupations. Approximately 193,000 career openings for registered nurses are projected each year, on average, over the next decade.
