MyProgress FAQs

The University is launching MyProgress, a new web-based degree planning tool that is replacing students’ traditional Academic Evaluations. MyProgress will make it easier to track and monitor your degree progression and help you easily identify courses that fulfill your degree requirements multiple terms in advance. Review the following frequently asked questions (FAQs) to learn more.

MyProgress, a web-based degree planning tool, launched in September 2023.

MyProgress is a new and improved degree planning tool that incorporates the transfer course information from your academic evaluation, presents you with course options that meet each degree requirement and allows you to plan and register for courses.

top

MyProgress works with Student Planning to allow you to plan courses multiple terms in advance and more easily map your path to degree completion. It will allow you to make adjustments to shorten or extend the time to degree completion or change the sequence of your courses. Once you have planned your courses in MyProgress, you can select specific course sections once registration opens for each term and then register with one click. MyProgress also allows you and your advisor to collaborate on your degree progress on one integrated system.

MyProgress uses all TESU course codes, including equivalencies, in showing course requirements and courses that fill the requirements. You can see your original transfer coursework and the equivalency we’ve assigned under “Transfer Credit Evaluated by TESU” from the left-hand menu in the Online Student Service.

top

From MyProgress, you can click on Search next to any degree requirement and see all the TESU courses/exams in the Course Catalog that can be used to fulfill the requirement. You will be able to see the course information as well as the terms we expect to offer it. As you plan courses into terms in Student Planning, the courses will appear in MyProgress where they will be used to fulfill your degree requirements.

top

In MyProgress, you must pay careful attention to the number of courses/credits required for each degree requirement. If we offer multiple courses that could be used to fill a requirement, you may see them all as options on MyProgress but only need to select the number required. The number of courses/credits required in each section are listed with the requirement. Once you meet the required number, the remaining options become listed as Fulfilled.

The vast majority of courses students take with us or transfer are 3 credits. However, some schools use a quarter hour system that usually results in 2 to 2.67 credits per course. We will accept these courses to meet some requirements. If this is done, you will need to still complete the overall number of credits in each area. The expectation is that all requirements will be met with 3 credits unless this exception is made for transfer credit.

It's important to note that the change to MyProgress pertains to formatting and usability. There are no changes to students' existing degree requirements or area of study requirements. MyProgress simply shows them differently than the Academic Evaluation did.

Academic Advising has the information on courses you’ve already planned from another school and they will still be accepted. Please make an appointment with your advisor to review this information.

Of course! TESU recognizes the learning and college-level knowledge you have regardless of how you’ve gained it. Many students use external sources to meet requirements, and this continues to be perfectly acceptable. As always, please make an appointment with your advisor to discuss planning external courses.

MyProgress displays all notes at the start of the evaluation, under the Program Description and Show Program Notes areas. It is important that you check this area for important notes from the University regarding your degree program, especially regarding your credit residency requirement. Please also be aware of these important policies that affect your degree progress.
